RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

Dear parents,

March is going to be very excited for our students. As some of you already know, our religious school students will be participating in a special religious school Shabbat on Friday, March 29 at 6.30 pm.

Each student will participate during a prayer or reading. Teaching the students about the values of Shabbat and the meaning behind the prayers will also help the students to prepare for their own bar/bat mitzvah. We are looking forward to our Religious school Shabbat and we hope that you all can join us.

Last month I introduced Jaron Sela to all of you. This month I’ll introduce Odelia Rios to you. Odelia is in her 2nd year as a Hebrew and religious school teacher. She teaches 1st & 2nd graders. She was born in Corpus Christi, TX. When she turned 10 years of age she started travelling while living with her oldest brother. They resided in Emsworth, PA during her school sessions and then travelled while on their breaks. While in school she engaged in classes for ballet, middle Eastern dancing, Spanish flamenco and jazz. At age 12 she started modeling for department stores and beauty salons. She continued modeling until she was 24. She was offered a few recording contracts where she recorded and sang with Willy Nelson, LeeAnn Womack and Chris Perez. Later in her years, she moved to Dallas TX and worked alongside Chuck Norris and Sherri Wilson of Walker, Texas Ranger, at their Bella Vita Spa. When she moved back home, she was offered a position that was created for her as Director of Fundraisers and Special Events at Metro Ministries. She started the Spirit Jam Fest that is still very much alive today.

She converted to Judaism about 3 years ago but studied Judaism for about 10 years before her conversion. She now resides back in her hometown with her husband, Frank Rios of 15 amazing years. They have 8 children together. She homeschools their youngest daughter, Love Rios. She has applied her years of experience to her teaching through art, music and dance to her wonderful students in our religious school at CBI.

Next week we will introduce you to Daya Butler.

With Warm Regards,
Manuela Sela, Religious school director

CBI SISTERHOOD

Dear Sisterhood members,

I would like to thank all the amazing members who helped me during last Family Shabbat. Food, decoration and organization was great.  Italian night was definitely a big success and we could not have done it without your help!

Due to personal reason I had to postpone our sisterhood meeting. The new date is March 7th at 5.30 at CBI. During this meeting, we are going to discuss how to distribute the money and to whom. And we are going to look more into next years new officers. If you would like to run for officer, please feel free to contact me or join us during the next sisterhood meeting.

We have a couple of sisterhood evens coming up. Saturday, March 23rd we have our CBI/Sisterhood Purim party. Join us for music, dancing, costume contest and much more. It starts at 6.00 pm – 10.00 pm.

Sisterhood is also planning a progressive dinner on Sunday, April 7th. Once we get closer to the date, we will send out more information, but I know it is going to be a great evening with food, friends and fun! If you would like to volunteer during this day (Setting up, Cooking, Cleaning etc.) please let me know.

We are also planning to open our sisterhood gift shop any time soon.  We will sell Seder plates, Matzah covers, and more Passover supplies. Information about the hours of operation will be out soon.

Below are some important dates. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

With warm regards.
Manuela Sela, Sisterhood President
