President's Message - August 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Dear Members of CBI,

August is time when summer is winding down. The time is now that we begin planning our congregation’s agenda for the year ahead.

I wish to report that our board has met and I am happy to inform that we have had an informative and constructive first meeting. We welcome our new board members Iris Karas, Vicki Rothschild, Julia Noble, Michael Hiatt, Jeff Itkin, Josh Hopkins, George Kopf and Richard Hausman.

I feel confident that the officers and board who serve with me will use their diverse skills to ensure a continued bright future for our congregation.

This year begins our sixth year as a merged congregation. We have fulfilled every aspect of the merger agreement. Our gratitude and thanks to Rabbi Roseman, who continues making the transition with consideration for all.

We continue to receive inquiries from all over the country of how we planned and implemented the merger.

I invite you to bring any suggestions that could make Beth Israel even more outstanding. Our congregation is a religious institution, but in many ways also a business.  If you examine our budget with its many expenditures, you will see that we must each do our part and participate financially to the extent of one’s ability. I know that we can count on each of you to fulfill your obligation this year.

Congregation Beth Israel is blessed with having so many wonderful volunteers; if you haven’t as yet, please agree to serve on one of our many committees. You will feel better for participating; it is a mitzvah.

Thank you for reelecting me as your president. I hope to warrant the confidence you have shown in me.

            Thank you and Shalom,

            Maury Wolfson
            President
