President's Message - December 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Dear Members of CBI,
I am writing this the week of Thanksgiving. I have just read an article in a magazine by a young Jewish author who remembers a Thanksgiving dinner at his Yiddish-speaking grandparents home. It was his grandmother’s custom to put corn kernels on each family member’s plate. They then were instructed to put one kernel on the table for each thing they were thankful for at that time.
As time passed, I considered all the ways we have been blessed this year as a Congregation. We continue to be most fortunate to have a dynamic religious leader, we have a committed board of directors, dedicated congregants and a very committed and ambitious Sisterhood.

Our Food Fest, under the guidance of Iris Karas and Meredith Ryan, again was a huge success. Our thanks also go to the many, many volunteers, without whom this event could not have happened.

As many of you know by now, Rona & LA Train will be moving to Houston. I would like to share with you a letter that I recently received:
Dear Maury,
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve Congregation Beth Israel in many capacities over the years. Because we are now in the midst of remodeling our new Houston home and I cannot fulfill my commitment to be in Corpus for meetings, it is only fair that I resign from the Board of Trustees for the remainder of my term.
I thank you, Maury, for your sincere dedication to our congregation, and ask that you convey my best wishes and thanks to the members of the Board, and the entire congregation for their efforts in behalf of CBI.
                With love,

We thank Rona & LA for their years of service and dedication to Temple Beth El, Congregation Beth Israel and the entire Jewish community. They will be dearly missed but will continue to be members of our congregation.  We wish them continued health and happiness.

Rosalyn joins me in wishing you a festive and joyful Hanukkah and a Happy New Year.
