Corpus Christi Community Religious School

Due to Food Fest and the Thanksgiving holiday, we didn’t have many religious school sessions in November.  Sunday School will meet on December 5th and 12th.  Hebrew School will meet on December 2nd, 9th, and 16th.  We will resume classes on January 6th, after the winter break.

Speaking of Food Fest, I want to thank the students who helped out during the festival.  You are appreciated!

Molly Glazer, our education fellow from ISJL, will visit us December 3rd – 5th, and will be the guest of the Noble Family.  Molly has some fun Hanukkah activities for Sunday, so make every effort to attend.

Happy Hanukkah, everyone!

            Shalom!

Tot Shabbat

We are excited to announce, that we will be hosting our first Tot Shabbat service on Friday, December 3rd at 6pm in the Racusin Chapel.

This service will be geared toward children under the age of 9 and will be filled with singing, dancing, and Jewish learning.

We hope that there will be enough interest for this to become a monthly event on the Fridays that there is a Family Shabbat Dinner.

Bring your vocal babies, wandering toddlers, inquisitive preschoolers, and vibrant grade-schoolers. This is a casual service where everyone is welcome!

We hope to see you there!

Taxi Program

Congregation Beth Israel Sisterhood is proud to announce a program funded by the Thornton Trust, a fund which provides money for projects for the visually impaired.  We are providing taxi rides for congregation members to and from Congregation Beth Israel events including services and programs such as the 92nd Street Y presentations.  These rides are designed to assist members who are unable to drive safely to CBI during either evening or daytime events.

We have set up an account to cover both cab fares and tip through Green and Go Taxi Services.  Simply schedule your ride by calling 299-9999 at least thirty minutes prior to your pick up time.  Make sure the dispatcher is informed that your fare will be billed to Congregation Beth Israel Sisterhood.  We are excited to provide this service to our members on a trial basis.  If you should have any questions, please call Suzy Hilliard 992-3970 or Debbie at the CBI Office.

RABBI ROSEMAN IN THE COMMUNITY

The Rabbi continues to serve on the Board of the Spohn Foundation, which is responsible for much of the special funding that helps Christus Spohn Hospitals provide a level of care in our community far beyond what might be expected in cities of a comparable size.

Rabbi Roseman has been teaching a history course for advanced students at TAMUCC this semester.  December 7 marks the final exam date, so you can find him in the next few days grading papers.  Our adult education series in the Spring will be a synopsis of this class on the History of Religion in America.

On Thursday, December 9, he will lead a discussion at Leadership Corpus Christi on diversity issues.

Friday night, we shall welcome the confirmation class of the Methodist Church in Portland.  Before services, Rabbi Roseman will speak with the students and their adult sponsors.

On Monday, December 13, Rabbi Roseman will be in Harlingen to address the Baptists of that community on the subject of Judaism and, particularly, about Hanukkah.

Wednesday, the 15th of December will find him speaking to the residents of Trinity Towers on the subject of Hanukkah.

On Monday, December 20, he will continue his service as a member of the Executive Committee of the South Texas Institute for the Arts (the art museum).
