Religious School Registration & First Day of Classes

Sunday, September 23, 2012 @ 10:00 AM
Congregation Beth Israel
(Classes will be over at 12:00)

Call Susan Martin or the CBI office with any questions.

Sisterhood started the season with a mixer at Pilar.  Although there wasn’t a large crowd in attendance, those who did attend had a really nice time.

We are now focused on Rosh Hashanah Oneg and Yom Kippur break-fast.  Susan Martin is coordinating this project and would like help from our members with baking and/or plating for Rosh Hashanah.  We will be in the kitchen on Sunday, September 16th if you are available to help with set-up.

We are also beginning to gear up for Food Fest.  Food Fest will be held on November 10th and 11th this year.  If you would like to help with preparations in advance of this event and/or during the weekend itself, please contact Laura Hausman or Catherine Susser and let them know you are available.  We welcome all of your support.

One behalf of your Sisterhood board, we would like to wish you a Happy New Year.

L’Shana Tovah

Family Corner

Hope everyone had an amazing summer filled with new memories!!  Now that school is back in session, so are our Family Shabbat Dinners!  Mark your calendar for Friday, September 7th  for our first dinner.  Services will remain at 6pm with dinner to follow at 7pm.

I look forward to bringing in Shabbat together and sharing a yummy meal too.  If you are new to our community, please join us … it's a great way to make new friends and treat yourself to a night off from cooking!

All meals will continue to be “kosher style”, keeping dairy and meat separate.

If you have a passion for cooking or some free time on your hands, I could really use some help in the kitchen –  just call or send me an email if you are available.

Wishing all the kids many blessings for a great school year ahead and looking forward to breaking bread together on the 7th.

L'Shana Tova to All,

Congregation Beth Israel, in conjunction with the New York City 92nd St Y program, will host a virtual interview with Pulitzer Prize - winning  author and New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman. Friedman will speak about current issues – globalization, the revolution in information technology, the nation’s chronic deficits, the pattern of energy consumption – and how we can change America for the better.  Curious? Read a little bit about our award-winning guest. You can find his official biography at www.thomaslfriedman.com.
