Religious School

We are off and running, parents and student alike, as the new school year has officially started for us all!  Religious School is also starting THIS month. Our first day of Sunday School and registration is on September 11 at 10:00am. We will kick off the day with an overview of Religious School, introduce the students to their teachers and classrooms and then send the kids off to learn while the parents complete the necessary paperwork. The fees for Religious School are $250 for the first child and $125 for each child thereafter in each family. We look forward to seeing you all and to a great school year!

Religious School Dates:
September 11:     Registration & Sunday School 10:00-12:30
September 18:     Hebrew School 9:00-10:15 / Sunday School 10:30-12:30
September 25:     Hebrew School 9:00-10:15 / Sunday School 10:30-12:30

Family Shabbat Dinner

Shalom Y'all,

I know in our family it's always a let down to see summer slowly fade away, but it's time to gear up for a new season of our Family Shabbat Dinners!  Hope everyone had a fabulous summer and survived the first week of a new school year too!

Mark your calendar for our first Family Shabbat Dinner on Friday, September 9th!  Services begin at 6:00 pm with dinner to follow.  We are blessed to be able to provide these dinners to our congregants and your attendance makes it so worthwhile.  Being all together, bringing in Shabbat as a congregation, and breaking bread together … what could be better on a Friday night?!!

I am looking for helpers in the kitchen, I would love the pleasure of your company and extra hands!  If you have an extra hour or 2 to spare, please give me a call.

CBI Sisterhood

Happy September y’all!

CBI Sisterhood is off to a really great start!  Membership applications have been mailed.   If you know of Jewish women in our community who would like to join our Sisterhood and participate in any of our activities, please extend the invitation and let us know so that we can reach out to them as well.  If you haven’t sent your dues and registration, please do so as soon as possible. Our Kick-Off at the Ginger Café was a great success and so much fun!  Thanks to all who attended, sorry if you missed it!!

Our Rosh Hashanah Oneg and Yom Kippur Break-fast are being planned and organized by some terrific ladies.  Thank you to Andrea Bussey and Heather Long!!  Be sure to let them know if you’re able to donate baked goods or contribute financially.

We did something new this year for the High Holiday’s and I hope you’ve had a chance to participate.  For those who’ve already ordered, a festively wrapped, 8 oz. jar of 100% pure Texas Honey was delivered to their friends and family.  The deadline for orders is September 2nd.  Call me if you’d like to order!

This year’s Food Fest will be held November 12th and 13th.  Organizing a successful CBI Food Fest requires lots of help from our wonderful CBI congregants.  In order to make this another huge success and fun weekend, please consider helping out in any way you can.  To volunteer at Food Fest please contact Jim Gold at 361-548-8437 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

One of the components of the Food Fest is the Vintage Sale.  Please help us by donating your unwanted purses, costume jewelry or any vintage furs lingering in your or your friend’s closets.  Donations will be received in the CBI Office.  Another component of the Food Fest is the Wine Pull.  Please consider donating a bottle/s of wine valued at $20 or more.  If you have questions, please contact Robin Adams at 215-4154.

On behalf of your Congregation Beth Israel Sisterhood, we would like to wish you and your family L’Shana Tovah. May the year ahead be a blessed and sweet year for you and your loved ones.

Jerri Osberg
