Congregation Beth Israel continues to serve the spiritual, educational and friendship needs and interests of the Jewish people of the Texas Coastal Bend.

We derive programmatic and administrative strength from our affiliation with the Union of American Hebrew Congregations of the North American Reform & Conservative Movement. At the same time, we are a community of Jews warm to Jewish tradition and supportive of a wide variety of modes of Jewish observance and self-expression. Our Rabbi is eager to serve each person and family in discovering and realizing a form of Jewish life that enriches their homelife and synagogue identification.

The Congregation sponsors weekly worship services for Shabbat evening and morning prayer, as well as observances of all festivals, holy days and holidays. We provide educational programs for children from pre-school to high school on Sunday mornings, and share in a mid-week Hebrew education program under the joint auspices of the city's Reform and Conservative congregations. Adult Education is a major focus of our Rabbi's efforts. Our Judaic library is home to thousands of volumes of Jewish literature and references, as well as hundreds of videotape learning and recreational resources.

The Congregation provides funeral and burial services at both Seaside Memorial Park and the historic Hebrew Rest Cemetery. Pre-need arrangements can be made by contacting the CBI office.

Membership in Congregation Beth Israel is open to all persons, 18 years of age or over, and their family members who reside with them.

Membership benefits include the privilege of voting on congregational business, membership on committees, family seating for the High Holy Days, eligibility to enroll children in the Jewish and Hebrew education programs, and access to he services of the Rabbi for all life-cycle events and pastoral care. Dues are on a graduated scale reflecting each family's ability to contribute a fair share to the upkeep of our congregation and our annual programs. No one is denied Temple membership because of inability to pay.
