But before we are going into the high holidays we have our annual kick off party on Wednesday August 22. More information and invitations to be follow.
If you are not a member yet or if you want to renew your sisterhood membership this is the time! We have sent out sisterhood our membership form for our new year. Please fill it out and send it to the CBI Sisterhood.
The next sisterhood meeting will be on Wednesday, August 15 at 5.30 pm at CBI.
I hope to see you all at the sisterhood kickoff party!

Rabbi Ari Vernon to Lead Conservative Services

Rabbi Ari Vernon is currently the Judaic Studies department chair at The Emery/Weiner School in Houston.  He has previously led high holiday services for Congregation Sons of Israel in Amsterdam, NY, Congregation Ahavas Shalom in Newark, NJ, Rodeph Shalom Synagogue in Mumbai, India, and Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Community in St. Louis, MO. Rabbi Vernon was ordained in 2004 at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.

Rabbi Vernon is looking forward to getting to know the Beth Israel community soon. In his own words: “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Beth Israel community, and I am excited to be leading a minyan in the High Holiday prayer service again.  I’ve enjoyed leading communities in prayer for as long as I can remember – at least as early as 2nd grade.  I was raised in Conservative congregations, soaking up the melodies of traditional hazzanut, and I love the way the words, combined with music, connect us across generations, pluck at our heartstrings, and inspire us live up to the mission of our people.  It is my hope that our communal prayer and High Holiday experience will fill these coming days of awe with passionate spiritual expression and deep meaning.”
