RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

Shalom everyone!

First and foremost I'd like to recognize and thank Manuela Sela, our past Religious School Director, for an amazing job well done with our CBI religious school these past few years!  I am honored and grateful to follow in her footsteps as Religious School Lead Teacher. I only hope to make her and you all proud! I have been working very closely with CBI President Greg Marks and Rabbi Ilan Emanuel in planning for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year!

Summer as we know has come to an end and another school year is about to commence! I am happy to say we have been actively in contact with Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) who will be providing the curriculum we will be utilizing. You are more than welcome to explore their website at www.isjl.org. I have been attending their training conferences in Mississippi and we are looking forward to implementing their curriculum into our religious school.

Our first day of Religious school will be Sunday, September 8th at 10:30 am in the CBI Social Hall. We look forward to seeing you soon & welcoming our students!

Odelia Rios

CBI SISTERHOOD

The Sisterhood enjoyed a special kick-off event and first meeting at the home of Ann and David Engel on August 20th.  Many thanks to the Engels for hosting and catering a wonderful dinner and evening.  WRJ Sisterhood area director Diane Pont joined us from Houston to tell us about the WRJ Sisterhood affiliation and an upcoming retreat at the Greene Family Camp, November 15-16, 2019.  To join the retreat, call 254-859-5411 or go to: urjgreene.campintouchcom.

We have a new dues structure.  Our basic membership is still just $36; however, I encourage you to be an honor member for $100.  Honor members receive recognition as well as a specially designed 14k gold plated pin/pendant where you can earn gem for donations and holding leadership positions.  This year we will work to make Sisterhood an engaging experience for everyone.  Be sure to renew your membership and reach out to at least one other non-member to encourage them to join. Our goal is to increase our sisterhood by 20% this year.

Food fest planning is well underway.  Thank you to Co-“Top Dogs”, Phyllis Roseman and Chris Adler as well as all the leaders for each of the many roles that make Food fest so successful!  Thank you to Pat Susser for your enduring time, effort and dedication in making the Vintage Shop so successful all these years! Shelly Jacobsen will assume the role of Vintage Shop lead.  Please assist Shelly by searching your closets for gently used purses, jewelry and stoles!

An Executive Board Sisterhood meeting will take place at the temple on Sunday, September 15th at 12:30pm before the Food Handler’s licensing class.  A full Sisterhood meeting will take place Monday, October 7th at 6pm at CBI.  Pass the word and invite a “sister”!

Warm regards,
Carol
