Sunday School Bgins September 8th!

Membership time!
Be sure to look for sisterhood membership renewals coming in the mail this week!  We have modified our membership to two levels.  The basic level is the same $36 Double Chai, but now we have a special $100 Kavot honor membership where Kavot level members will receive special recognition.  We hope many of you will choose this honor level as we support our sisterhood!
This year, we are looking to grow our sisterhood membership!  We ask each of you to reach out and invite a new member to join us.  Any individual who is committed to the objectives of Sisterhood and willing to further the causes and values of Judaism is welcome to join.

Mark your calendars-
The Sisterhood kick-off event is:
August 20th at 6pm
at the home of David & Ann Engel

The event will be a social as well as our first meeting. Food and beverage provided!
In honor of the 99th anniversary of women’s right to vote passed as the 19th amendment in 1917, we encourage you to wear an item symbolic of this era.  This might be a hat, gloves, pin, etc.  And, bring a prospective member!

Food Fest:
Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10th!

For questions, suggestions, or just to say “hi”, call me, Carol Rehtmeyer, your CBI Sisterhood President
Warm regards,

 CBI Program/Services Team at Work
Check-out the New community-wide online Calendar!

This past year the Library, Adult Education, and Social Action Standing Committee members began meeting at the same time to form the Program/Services Team. The Standing Committees still each have a lead person, but by blending the committee members into the PST, we have more input into the planning and coordination process, providing programs and services related to each committee and unique events such as holidays, community dinners or special occasions in the Temple.  To help with this, we developed a long-range electronic calendar of events which we have recently uploaded to make it available to all members of the Coastal Bend Jewish community.

I encourage you all to view the calendar by going to the CBI website (www.bethisraelcc.com) and clicking on the tab labeled “Calendar” in the upper right hand corner.  The calendar was developed using the Google Calendar format so you can easily cycle through upcoming months. So far, we show all current known events through September 2020. You may click on any event to find additional details such as host and location. For example, click on the “JCC Oy Vey Another 5K!” event scheduled for November 2nd,  and you will find time, location and even a link to Google Maps for directions. As they approach, more detailed information about specific events will be added, and of course, event dates and times are subject to change. You may even click on “add to my calendar” for that event to immediately appear on your personal Google Calendar.

If you have technical questions about how to use the calendar or suggestions for improvements, please contact Sue Williams (361-779-8593, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).  Sue will not add any event to the Community Calendar however without first getting approval from the CBI Board of Directors and/or the PST (as appropriate) to assure the event meets the community-wide criteria and that there are no other scheduling conflicts with committee meetings.

If you would like more information or have any suggestions, please contact me, Odelia Rios.
We look forward to an eventful year at CBI! Our next Program Services Team meeting is on Sunday, September 8th at 12:30pm in the CBI Library.  Please join us!

Thank you,
Odelia Rios, PST Chair
