Religious School

As the school year comes to a close, I want to make sure I recap the events of May.  We had a beautiful Confirmation of eight of our students on May 1st.  Mazel tov to Alex Fedder, David Fedder, Joe Fedder, Neil Levens, Maddie Ryan, Lucy Silverman, Sam Susser and Nathan Zager! They each spoke briefly about an aspect of Jewish life or a Jewish event they have experienced that was meaningful to their Jewish identity and explained why it was so meaningful and how it will affect their Jewish identity going forward in the future. Each one was unique and inspiring.
On May 8th, we concluded the Family Shabbat season with a student-led service. Many students had the opportunity to help lead a few prayers.  Students become more proficient in Hebrew with the opportunity to participate in the service. Thank you to those who were able to attend.
At last, we ended the year on May 17th with a pizza party and games.  And as this school year comes to a close, I want to take this opportunity to thank my teachers for their dedication and their time that they have devoted each week to our children! Without them, I could not do my job…so, THANK YOU to Shannon Lowenstein, Brian Honigbaum, Dave Ryan, Olivia Noble, Sophie Susser, Yoav Kadosh, Keren Costanzo and Rabbi Emanuel.
I must also take this time to say THANK YOU for allowing me the opportunity to be the Religious School Director for the past two years.  I have enjoyed seeing your children each week and I will miss this wonderful community and the CBI Family of Families!  Have a safe, restful and fun-filled summer!

Family Shabbat Dinner

Shalom Y'All,

What a lovely way to end the year of Family Shabbat Dinners by welcoming our newcomers to CBI!  It was great bringing in the sabbath and sharing a delicious dinner with everyone who attended.

I have enjoyed planning and preparing meals for our congregation as well as celebrating the Jewish holidays together.  Over the summer, if you would like to share some recipes or have any suggestions for meal ideas, shoot me an email!  Likewise, if you have some time to volunteer in the kitchen with me, I sure would enjoy hearing from you when we gear up again in September!

A special thanks to Linda and Suzy for their help and expertise in and out of the kitchen to make these Family Shabbat Dinners successful!

Until we break bread together again, wishing all of you a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer!

Following Israel ’s recent elections, 92Y and Ari Shavit bring together leading thinkers representing a spectrum of views.

We will begin the program with opening remarks by Ari Shavit, followed by the panel’s reaction and discussion on the challenges facing the Jewish and wider world today regarding Israel and its future.

CBI Sisterhood

Greetings from your new Sisterhood President!!  My name is Jerri Osberg and I'm very excited and honored to be assuming this new responsibility and thought I would take this opportunity to share a little information about myself.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, have lived in Chicago and then moved to a small town in northern Wisconsin, called Rhinelander.  In Rhinelander, I met my husband, Bill and gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Darien.  After tiring of the frigid winters (oy!) we moved to Portland, TX in 2008.  I am employed with the Corpus Christi ISD as the Executive Assistant to the Board of Trustees and Bill is an electronics technician for Air Specialty & Equipment Co.

When we joined CBI in 2009, I joined the Sisterhood and have loved being a part of this wonderful group of women who made me feel so at home and a part of our wonderful Corpus Christi Community.  Please join us on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 for the CBI Annual Congregational Meeting at 7:00 p.m.

I look forward to a year of friendship and fun.  Speaking of friendship and fun, "SAVE THE DATE", the Sisterhood's Annual Jewish Food Festival will take place November 14 and 15, 2015.  Of course we welcome all those members who volunteered their most valuable time making this event the success it has always been and we also invite and hope to welcome new members to experience the fun and fellowship derived by all who participate!
