CBI Religious School

Shalom,

Welcome back to Religious School! We had a great start as the kids played games and showed off their Hebrew skills. We have a great line-up of teachers including: Daya Butler (2nd grade), Shayna Sands (3rd & 4th grade), Greg Marks (5th & 6th grade), Brian Honigbaum and David Ryan (7th & 8th grade). Yoav Kadosh is returning to teach Hebrew (Gimmel Level) and will be joined by Shayna Sands & David Ryan (Aleph Level) and Rabbi Emanuel (Bet Level). Please remember that Hebrew is from 9-10:15am and Sunday School is from 10:30-12:30. Please ensure that your children arrive promptly and that you return to pick them up on time.

An exciting upcoming event for interested 6th-8th graders is the Fall Fest at Greene Family Camp October 16-18. If your child is interested, please contact Meredith Ryan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . This event is limited to 6th-8th graders only. If your child registers before Oct. 5th, the fee is $140, after October 5th, the fee is $165. There may be some scholoraship funds available, so please let Meredith know ASAP if you are interested.  "This is a great opportunity to try new activities and revisit old favorites, climb to new heights on the ropes course, experience the magic of a camp Shabbat, and meet friends from all over Texas & Oklahoma."

    Shalom,
    Meredith Ryan

CBI Sisterhood News

L’Shana Tova from the CBI Sisterhood!  First and foremost, I must thank our esteemed Rabbi Emanuel and CBI Choir for the wonderful and moving High Holiday services.  Secondly, a big shout out to Randi Emanuel for her hard work and dedication in providing CBI with the truly exquisite High Holiday Torah Covers, which wouldn’t have been possible without the generous donations from:
 - Chris Adler for the Adler Family
 - The Susser Family for  Rabbi Roseman
 - The Kins for Zelma and Jack Kins, Dorothy and Albert Miller
 - Gail Loeb for Leon Stephen Loeb by Howard and David Sadoskas

Last, but not least, a big thank you to all our sisters who provided a beautiful and delicious Rosh Hashanah Oneg and to Julia Noble and all her helpers that prepared and provided a fabulous Yom Kippur Break Fast.

I hope you are as excited as I am with the approach of CBI’s Food Fest.  This is such a wonderful opportunity for our Sisterhood to truly shine!  Please be generous with your time and efforts to be sure we have the most successful Food Fest ever!!  Jim Gold is hoping to have as many of us volunteer for the following tasks:

 - Preparation and day of Food Fest tasks,
-  Sell and purchase raffle tickets,
-  Donate items for the Vintage and Sweet Shop
-  Solicit and/or bid, bid, bid on our Silent Auction prizes.

If you would like to participate in any of these Food Fest areas, please contact Jim Gold at (361) 548-8437.

Please save the date!!  With Chanukah right around the corner, I’d like to announce the Sisterhood Chanukah Party will take place at Bill and Robin Adams’ home on December 10th at 6:00 p.m.

Reminder:  If you have paid your dues, thank you!  If you haven’t paid your dues, please do so as soon as possible.

Jerri Osberg, Sisterhood President

Canned Food Drive

On Sukkot we remember the fragility of life wandering in the desert, and how fortunate we are to be well fed and have a roof over our heads today.  But for many this is still not the case and we encourage you to bring canned and dry goods to contribute to the food bank to help those in need.  Please bring such contributions to Shabbat services, and to our Sukkot and Simchat Torah celebrations (or any other time over the next few months!) to help in this important mitzvah.
