Adult Education Opportunity by Rabbi Tokayer

The Jews of India
Monday December 7, 2015 at CBI at 7pm

In honor of the occasion of our congregation donating a Torah scroll to a congregation in India, Rabbi Marvin Tokayer will be visiting our community to accept the scroll on behalf that congregation and will teach us about the fascinating history and culture of the Jewish community of India.

After his ordination as a rabbi, Marvin Tokayer served as United States Air Force Chaplain in Japan. Upon discharge he returned to Tokyo to serve for eight years as the rabbi for the Jewish Community of Japan. He wrote 20 books in Japanese, including several bestsellers; discovered literally the last of the Chinese Jews; and located a long-lost Jewish cemetery in Nagasaki.

After his time in Japan, he founded and led the Cherry Lane Minyan shul in Great Neck, New York for fourteen years, while leading tours of Japan, China,  India and Southeast Asia.

CBI Sisterhood

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family!

A huge thank you to our wonderful congregants who volunteered and worked tirelessly to ensure our Food Fest was another huge success!! Our Chair, Jim Gold, truly rose to the occasion and did a wonderful job!  There is no way to adequately thank Julia Noble, who is a “one woman team”, for the endless hours, hard work and dedication she provided!  The numbers are not official yet, however, I feel safe in assuring you, we out did ourselves again!

Please be sure to join us at our annual Hanukah Party at Bill and Robin Adams Home on Thursday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m.  We will provide the latkes with fixings and request you bring an appetizer or dessert for our pot luck and a wrapped White Elephant gift for our gift exchange.

Happy New Year’s to y’all!!

Men's Club Scotch Tasting

Please join us for a fun evening of scotch tasting on Thursday, December 10th. 7 to 9pm

The ladies are attending their Sisterhood party that night, so let's get together and show them that the men can have fun too!  We will be tasting 3 blends and 3 single malts, so it should be a lively evening.  We would like to thank Howard and Amanda Mintz for hosting the tasting at their home, and we would also like to thank our event sponsors, Liquid Town and Republic National Distributing Company.  If you are planning to attend, please call the temple or send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
