President's Message - January 2011 Print
Dear Members of CBI,

Hope everyone had a wonderful Chanukah and the opportunity to share with your family. December’s Family Shabbat service held in conjunction with celebrating Chanukah was well attended and for those who were unable to be there, you missed the excellent dinner highlighted by the delicious latkes. Thanks to Meredith Ryan and all the many volunteers who helped make this a successful and enjoyable evening.

Rabbi Roseman is planning an Adult Education lecture series on the History of Religion in America. These Sunday programs will be most informative and interesting. Please plan to attend. Exact times and dates are in another article in this newsletter.

When we were discussing the merger of the two congregations more than five years ago, many individuals with conservative religious preferences emphatically insisted that the new synagogue offer regular, traditional services on Shabbat morning.  The merger committee unanimously agreed that this was the right thing to do, and, since that time, we have had such services every Saturday morning at 9:00 AM.  We miss those of you who so strongly advocated for these services and hope that you will join us occasionally so that our minyan will be stronger.

Soon the nominating committee will be meeting to begin making plans for next year’s new officers and board. I urge each of you who have an interest to be involved to let me know of your interest and desire to be on the board, so I can let the committee know.  As I have said many times in the past, we need new faces and ideas. Many on the Board have volunteered their time for many years and cannot be expected to continue to do so. Please consider serving, not only as a Mitzvah, but also allow you to appreciate how much the Board does on your behalf. On behalf of Rosalyn and myself, we wish you a Healthy and Happy New Year.

                Shalom,
                Maury Wolfson
