President's Message - February 2011 Print

Dear Members of CBI,

This is a very busy and exciting time for everyone and the same goes for Congregation Beth Israel.

Our most recent Shabbat Dinner was well-attended. These events continue to be enjoyable for all. Thanks to Susan Martin, Laurie McKinley, and Meredith Ryan for a delicious meal.

The new Tot Shabbat service in the Racusin Chapel is held simultaneously with our Friday night service. It was exciting. The kids are cute and bright. When it was “Hamotzi” time, it was wonderful to see 15 or more little ones participate on the pulpit. These children are adorable and our future. Our gratitude to Lauren Frantz, Natalie and Brian Honigbaum for organizing this service.

Shortly we will be celebrating the B’nai Mitzvot of three of our youth. We begin with the Bat Mitzvah of Maya Hiatt on April 2nd. Further information will follow.

Our fine Arts Committee will soon assist in planning an architectural water fountain, to be placed at the rear foyer entrance. Our appreciation to Robert and Chris Adler for their donation. This will be another great addition to our house of worship.

Our Social Action Committee chaired by Jim Gold is in the planning stage of a “food for the homeless” event with assistance from the Salvation Army.

I am happy to report that our congregation has received $6,000 to be placed in our endowment fund from the Herbert A. & Anne Swiff Train endowment fund. We thank the entire Train Family for their continuing support of CBI.

I am happy to report that our board meetings continue to be well attended and productive. Your officers and board continue to monitor every aspect of our congregation including and most importantly our financial condition.

We are meeting our goals and ask that you continue giving your financial support, so that our congregation can remain financially sound.

                Shalom,
                Maury Wolfson
