What's Going On - June/July 2011 Print

Corpus Christi Community Religious School

Our “End of Year Celebration” was held at the JCC on Sunday, May 15th.  It was wonderful to see so many students and their families enjoying pizza, gaga ball, and swimming.  We appreciate Amy and the JCC for letting us use the facilities.

I want to thank the dedicated CCCRS staff for a great year.  Sunday teachers and assistants were Elisa Cox, Rikki Schmitchel, Chelsea Eisenberg, Laurie and Amanda McKinley, Brian Honigbaum, and Dave Ryan.  Instructing our Hebrew students on Thursdays were Laurie and Amanda McKinley and Shiri Tannenbaum.  I would also like to thank Julia Noble for her advice and assistance throughout the year and to David Fedder for his help in our computer lab.

I will be attending the annual conference of the Institute of Southern Jewish Life at the end of June.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding our curriculum, this is the time to let me know so that I can have them addressed.

Enjoy your summer!

From the Sisterhood President

These last two years as Sisterhood President have flown by. As I reflect on the moments that make up this period, I am awed by the many ways in which the unique spirit and friendship of CBI Sisterhood has enriched my life.   I wish you all a happy, relaxing and safe summer.

I am very pleased to announce the Sisterhood officers for the coming 2011-2012 year.

Tot Shabbat

So much fun was had at our Yom Ha'atzmaut Tot Shabbat Service! We had a party for Israel, waved Israeli flags, talked about Israel, sang the Hatikva and danced the Hora!

Thank you to everyone who has participated in our Tot Shabbat services this year. We have loved watching  so many children in our community singing, praying, and spending time together.

We hope you have a great summer and hope to see you all in the fall!

Natalie & Brian Honigbaum & Lauren Frantz

Our Mexican Fiesta Family Shabbat dinner was a big hit this month and I want to thank all of you for coming.  Nothing beats good food, good company and good friends sharing Shabbat together!

As we prepare to take a break for the summer months, I hope we will continue to see each other at CBI for Shabbat services.  Also, if you have any suggestions for menus, favorite dishes, or food you would like me to cook for our upcoming dinners, I would love to hear from you.  Keep in mind, we will continue to provide “kosher style” meals, keeping dairy and meat separate.

I would also like to thank all my “helpers” in the kitchen:  Dottie Heffler, Susan Martin, Laurie McKinley, Iris Karas and Elisa Cox.  Your support and encouragement have been heartwarming and I have had so much fun in the kitchen with all of you!!

Wishing you all a fun-filled, relaxing, and safe summer.  We will see each other in August, when our Family Shabbat Dinners will resume and we will once again break bread together.
